Sampling what's that?
In music, sampling is the act of taking a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or element of a new recording. This is typically done with a sampler, which can be a piece of hardware or a computer program on a digital computer.
Sampling is an artform that has spawned many musical genres and underlies a flurry of endless musical creativity.
Some would think that sampling started with the Hip-Hop tracks of the early 80’s, but in its broader sense it goes way back, further than even the Beatles borrowing a piece of French national anthem La Marseillaise for “All You Need is Love” in 1967.
Rules of the game
Your goal is simple, find which modern song re-appropriate and sampled this "old gem" that you're listening to. Pretty simple right? Now let's focus on the rules of the game:
- -> First, listen to the song display on your browser. If you recognize something it's normal ;)
- -> If you feel confident, play for 3 points by clicking on "Square" and picking the correct answer between the four propositions.
- -> If you don't, play for 1 point by clicking on "Duo" and picking the correct answer between two propositions.
- -> You will have to find 10 songs for a maximum of 30 points!
Good luck & have fun listening to music!
